What a waste it would be to have fresh, quality grape juice put into an old wineskin, only to have it burst out as it ferments and ages properly to quality.
Friends: if knowing that was important to Jesus, God the Son, then it should be important to His followers, too.
"And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins" (Mark 2:22).
The difficult season of transition this little church has trekked through toward what Father God has in store for her cannot be contained in an old culture and failing systems.
No, what God has in store requires a new name, team, culture, and pliable systems capable of containing (not restraining) the kingdom growth we will experience in the coming years.
Hence, Heritage Community Church and I as your lead pastor.
Beset upon a year ago by administrative obstacles, then in early 2020 with the COVID-19 challenges, our church's relaunch with a new name and focused mission was delayed twice.
But now, here we are and moving forward officially on September 13th as Heritage Community Church.
In closing, I want to encourage your fervent intercessions on behalf of our church: pray in faith, believing for God's life and power to mark our ministry; pray passionately; pray without ceasing!
As there has been in seasons past, there will be much opposition we'll face, but take heart: Satan and his minions wouldn't bother any group of Christians he has right where he wants them, which is lukewarm, prayerless, and powerless.
